Finally Friday! Year-End "Awards" Nominees

Since the amount of money in Finally Friday's budget is equal to the amount I get paid for the blog (hint: $0.00), I have no fancy plaques or framed certificates to give out to our deserving winners and finalists for the first "Best of Finally Friday!" awards.  You can simply take pride in the fact that a truly independent observer like myself appreciates what you do and how you do it.

Another note:  There will not be a fan vote for this list.  If I did that, North Davidson would win by a landslide in all categories even if one of them was, "Best school not named North Davidson."  Instead, I've chosen three finalists each for a bunch of categories.  Before you start yelling and unfollow me on Twitter, let me tell you this:

I DIDN'T VISIT A SCHOOL WHERE I DIDN'T LOVE THE STUDENT SECTIONS AND BANDS.  YOU PEOPLE MADE THIS VERY, VERY DIFFICULT!

Let's get to the 2012 finalists, in no particular order:

Best Cheer:
  • "Rollercoaster"- BMHS Pit Crew
  • "I Believe"- Davie Crazies
  • "H2O"- Tabor City

  Best Venue (Stadium):
  • North Davidson
  • Davie County
  • Reagan
Best Marching Band
  • Reagan
  • Davie
  • North Davidson

Best Player
  • Blaze Acord- North Surry
  • Garrison Duncan- East Forsyth
  • Shy Tuttle- North Davidson

Best Team Entrance
  • Reagan- the Hill
  • North Davidson- Smoke
  • Davie- the motorcycles
Note:  The rest of the schools I saw line up in the endzone and run through a banner.  I'm not showing favoritism, I just love a grand entrance.

Best Student Section
  • The BMHS Pit Crew
  • Davie Crazies
  • Tabor City

Best-Run, Most Organized Student Section
  • Tabor City
  • The East Superfans
  • West Wackos
Best Cheerleaders (hoo, boy. I shouldn't even go here.  Cheering is serious here in the Tre Fo'.)
  • West Forsyth
  • Davie
  • North Davidson
Best Theme
  • Toga Night- Glenn
  • Pink-Out/Community Night- North Davidson
  • Beach Night- Mount Tabor

Best Press Box
  • Reagan
  • Reagan
  • Reagan
Best Local Media Coverage
I think that's enough for now.  Did I forget anything?  Do you want to plead your case?  Go straight to the "Comments" section and let me know!
